		<description>Eldan's got it, it's "gadding", most commonly used as "gadding about".

The waterfront on the postcard is massively different from what it looks like now but fits very much my memory of what it looked like in the 70s.</description>

		<description>I reckon what you have as "adding" is an archaic verb: "&lt;a href="http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gadding" rel="nofollow"&gt;gadding&lt;/a&gt;".  In fact, I should start using that word - it really expresses what an active tourist does rather well.  Not sure about Elaine, but the context suggests that a person's name is appropriate.</description>
