Past Post: Tlingit Totem Pole 1906

And I’m back. So let’s get right to it with a Past Postcard. This time around it’s the totem pole that you can still find in Pioneer Square. The pole was taken (stolen) in 1899 by the Chamber of Commerce from the Alaskan Tlingit Indians. It’s worth noting that what you see now in Pioneer Square is a replica, as the original was torched by vandals in 1938. It is now part of the National Register of Historic Places. The card reads:
The Indian God. Which they used to worship. Mrs. Swift.

Where do you find your vintage post cards? I would love to have the one you use as your banner. West Seattle Blog turned me on to your site. Very nice.

Hey Todd:
You can find a high res version of the banner graphic postcard here:

I find the cards in all sorts of places. Rummage (rubbish?) sales, old shops, online, etc. Glad to have you on board!
