Took a trip over to Magnuson Park a few weeks ago to see for myself what had become of the old Sand Point Naval Air Station Commissary building. If you haven’t yet, check out my
original post on the imminent demolition. Sure enough, it’s gone. Way gone. Not even so much as a piece of rubble to remind anyone that it stood and soon these
will be soccer fields. But on the bright side — look at that sky! As always, click on the image for a high-res version.

Looks like a desert wasteland? Any plans for doing something constructive at the site?

They are going to build rugby, soccer, and baseball fields. Hard to say when though.

Sounds constructive at least. So, the “when” would probably be when your great grand kids have kids?

Haha. Most likely!

Your photos of the demise of Sandpoint Naval Base made me very sad. The last time I was there was 1983, getting married in the chapel. We had our reception in the Officer’s Club. My dad worked in the Civil Engineering department for many years. He even used to take us to Christmas parties there starring J.P. Patches and Stan Boreson!!! Thanks alot…..sniff
