For Sale: Bungalow Court Condo
December 21st, 2007 @ 1:20 am by Cliffe | Sorted Historic Buildings |
This is another condo for sale that’s literally close to home for me — just down the street. This is a special one, though. It’s a condo for sale located in the Central Area’s Bungalow Court on 16th Ave. The property is located within a cluster of 1917 Craftsman style bungalows. It has been on the market for quite a while, but now the price has been knocked down to $289,930 (approaching reason). It’s so small that the listing doesn’t even bother listing the square footage — classy! But if you’re looking for a studio and appreciate the Craftsman style, this one may be worth a look. Great house, Cliffe!
Hi Cliffe: I’ve been watching this house for a while. I’m guessing it was built from the same kit as was my own home in the CD’s more northern Pine Street Cottages. Do you know anything more about these two Craftsman-style cottage courts?
From what people living there have told me, the court fell into bad times in the 1970′s when they were apartments. Apparently they added to the CD’s “seedy” nickname. I wouldn’t be surprised if they use the same kit. Nice find.
One cool thing for me personally is that the house I live in (built in 2005) is a Craftsman inspired home that is heavily inspired from these cottages. The builder looked to them to make the house fit into the neighborhood. Everything, even down to the thin clapboard first floor and 2nd floor shingles as well as the paint colors.
I really like your Living Small Blog. Great design and I love the concept. I’m a big fan of the minimalism that having a small place inspires. My house is just 960 squire feet and I love it.

Thanks for the info, and for the compliment. Glad you like Living Small; the feeling is mutual. I’ve enjoyed Vintage Seattle since its inception!
