Maybe I’ve been playing too much
Bioshock, but
I can’t get enough of that 1930’s style lately. Check out these snapshots of the Northwestern Mutual Insurance Building, an Art Deco masterpiece built in 1931. Now known as Olympic Tower, it was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and granted landmark status in 1987. If you’re downtown admiring the building, you
may want to pack heat. Or just some nunchucks. Click on the thumbnails for larger images.

just noticed this building for the first time while on the bus on the way home from work today! really awesome looking building… similar to, although less impressive than the Seattle Tower.

My Uncle, now 96 and still going strong, started there as a mail boy. Before he retired he had worked his way up to President and later Chairman of the Board. I have many great memories of visiting his office at the top of the building and sharing his afternoon break with him in the small cafe on street level.
