Past Post: Third Ave @ Night 1909

January 5th, 2009 @ 12:02 am by Cliffe | Sorted Past Postborder
More snow threatening yet another day of work? Nooooo. I hope that by the time you’re reading this it’s all melted away. Regardless, I like the eerie look of this 1909 postcard — and the repetition. Mrs. Magill writes:
Nov. 3rd 1909. Dear Friend, How is this for a moonlight view. This is one of the main streets of Seattle we have some very fine buildings here. Your Friend, Mrs Magill.

You rule for Iron Maiden-izing that postcard.

That is the least Seattle-y looking postcard of old Seattle I have ever seen. I think it’s due to the fact that there is only one cross-street showing and it’s drawn to look like a driveway! I couldn’t begin to tell you what part of 3rd Ave. that is! I love it–it’s so “Twilight Zone” spooky!

I had to sneak across several alleys filled with zombies to get this post card off to you. If you don’t hear back from me, know that I was devoured by zombies. Also, do NOT come to Seattle. They’ll get you like they’ll get me.”
