Though the old building stock in Se attle h as been in steady decline over the years, a number of nice Art Deco examples remain. One of them is the Fourth Avenue Building, built 1929, now on the National Register of Historic Places. Wikipedia Com mons has a couple modern day shots. Here’s the 1928 take from The Argus.
Now the home of HistoryLink.org’s office. Robert Reamer, the 1411 Building’s architect, also designed the 5th Avenue Theatre, Bellingham’s Mt. Baker Theatre, and Spokane’s Fox Theater, all of which are still with us. But Reamer is best known for creating the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone Park, when he was just 29.
Crosscut.com is also located in the building.

This just in from Ashley Bullitt:

“Hi there,
We’ve always called it the 1411 building. It was my grandfather’s project and he died not long after it was built; although it was long enough for his heart to be broken when the building to the west was built, shutting off the views. You have probably seen the old pictures and documents in the lobby, and I’m certain Harbor Properties has more in their files, likewise also the latest iteration of the Stimson Company, both of which have offices in the
1411 building.

Sometime in the last millennium I had an office on the 10th floor, third window right of the corner facing the lens. My freelance days. Spending big. Thanks for posting.
