I shopped at that Schuck's even as late as 98 or 99. And ate Jell-o at the Doghouse. So, there you go.

For a while, during the Boeing Bust, the restaurant was one of a local chain that featured huge baked potatoes with an endless array of toppings. Does anyone else remember those restaurants? I can't even remember the name. I think that's the only time I was ever in the restaurant (or the motel, for that matter).

My bad! I had the placement of the Doghouse/Hurricane correct, I just had this motel placement wrong! I was thinking that the above-pictured motel is now that Best Western on the corner of 8th at Denny, across from the Shilla restaurant. You can see how similar they are in size and that they face the same way--and they are only a couple of blocks apart. If I had actually read the damn post, I would've seen that Cliffe said it was now the Days Inn. It's my stupid day!

the Dog House ( Now Called the Hurrican) would've been across the street as Chris A said. this was a favorite hang out of mine for a long time ( and still sometimes) and for Seattle "Fringe" kids for years before. there is a great blog post about it here:

The current Hurricane Cafe is the site of the Doghouse, which places it to the left, going into Belltown. The right side of this photo is Denny.

I believe the Doghouse would be off to the right side of the picture, across the street from Schuck's. I miss that place, although at least I still have a t-shirt. Hard to find a good greasy spoon these days...

The old Doghouse on 7th and Bell was just behind this motel. Could it be the green building off to the very left?

Heh. That Schuck's next door was a Schuck's into the 80s, and possibly into the early 90s. I remember going there to buy stuff for my first car, which I got in 1987.
