Darn, I missed the chance to crosslink by not remembering your profile when I wrote that item … will be sure to crosslink when we preview the meeting again in a week or so! We’re also waiting for the Seaview building at The Kenney to turn up on the board’s agenda – the nomination paperwork has been submitted, but Beth Chave told us it won’t go on the agenda till it’s been deemed a “complete” application.
It’s wonderful to see that this old building has received landmark status. It was designed by my grandfather, Gerald C. Field, (not his son, Gilbert C. Field); who was a partner in Bebb and Mendell’s offices in the “Old” Denny Building. He designed numerous buildings in the Pacific Northwest, including the original Cornish Building, and the Jolly Roger which mysteriously burned down after gaining landmark status. I donated his drawings and blueprints to the UW, but have some old photos of the 6th Church, as well as a copy of the original sketch if they are needed please contact me.
