The UW golf course is still in place in this shot, between the Montlake Cut and Husky Stadium’s (unpaved) south parking lot & University Hospital and the Montake Cut, bisected by Montlake Boulevard. According to a guy at the UW driving rangethe course closed in 1955. When I used to hit buckets out there in the late 90′s, where they had a very nice B&W shot of the course. I’ve got a good postcard of Husky Stadium, the hospital, & the golf course, but shot from the southwest, I think in the late 40′s, since the south addition hasn’t been added yet. Once I find it, I’ll scan it & send it on to you

Looking at Husky Stadium – the south-side upper deck is present. According to the UW facilities page, that deck was completed in 1950 – so we can narrow it down to between 1950 and 1957.

The square patch in the water is a log boom. They used to log around Lake Washington, float the logs up to Union Bay and stage them there. I remember as a kid looking at all those logs tied up there all the time. I had forgotten about that. Another gradual disappearance as things change over the years.

It’s from before 1957 since the Old Engineering Hall is still standing (it was demolished in 1957 and replaced by the current Mechanical Engineering Building in 1959). However, it’s from at least 1948 since More Hall is visible in the photo.

Part of the hospital is under construction. That should help nail down the date.
