Around here we often talk nostalgically about the old growth wood used to build houses in the first half of the 20th century. Well, this Darius Kinsey photo shows the other side of the coin. Click for higher res.
Might this devastation also be the result of fire? The remaining standing trees and snags look burned. The stump sizes don’t look like larger old growth. In any case, it sure is ugly. Heckova job, boys!
Definitely been some cuttin’ there, lower left. But that’s the aftermath of a fire sho’ as I’m sittin’ here.
Must have been that lightning bolt in the upper right? Ok fine, that’s a crack in the photo.
