Seattle Panorama-o-rama No. 5
September 25th, 2009 @ 12:05 am by Cliffe | Sorted Photo Exposure |
It’s been nearly a year since our last Seattle Panorama-O-Rama feature and that’ s clearly too long. Today’ s, taken in 1878, may be one of the most interesting. A few of the streets are labeled so you can easily orient yourself. Click for the super high res.
Darn! I was hoping to find the “oldest house in Seattle” from one of the past What Year Was I Taken posts, but alas, can’t seem to find it.

Presumably it would be to the right of the old UW building along 4th Avenue, but is either too fuzzy or possibly blocked by something else in the picture.
What a bucolic setting, now crusted over with concrete, asphalt, and steel.
We’re being attacked by the Russians. And their being sarcastic!!
Is there even a single structure left that was extant in this photo? Seriously. I’ve been trying to find one since Jess posted it. No luck.
I would guess not.
Probably the only bit of structure still existing (though not in the same location) would be the four columns from the front of the original University of Washington building (the white building with cupola in the far upper left), which are now located in the Sylvan Theater on the “new” Montlake campus.
