A Window To Smith Tower

While we just had a view of it on Monday, I just seem to always come back to Smith Tower. A co-worker friend and I were agreeing tonight at dinner that it’ s probably our favorite building in Seattle.

From my West Seattle home I’m lucky enough to have a view of it from the window.

It’s my favorite building, too. I was so jealous when I heard they were converting to condos–I would love to live in the Smith Tower!

I agree. The best highrise in the city. It has so much character.

I’m with the Northwest Lesbian & Gay History Museum Project, and we’re always looking for photos of the corner of 2nd & Washington from back in the day (where the Double Header & Casino were/still are).

This photo is wonderful but frustrating because you can *almost* see them! But you can see Barney’s Loans.

    thanks!

Back in the 60s I visited the apartment that was in the tip of the tower. It`s occupant at that time was Jack Corso(sp), a well known Seattle mural artist. It was later the home of the Brandmarkers. You might remember Buerl Brandmarker as the English singer at the Picadilly in the Olympic Hotel

Amazing building, Is there any info out there on the Chinese room gifts from the last Empress of China. I have a beautiful bronze lantern from the old Chinese room and would love to hear that it came from the last Empress of China.
