The hits just keep coming with the slides that Josh Salwitz
found at the Salvation Army for just $1.50, scanned and sent in.
We’ve been following the
construction of Seattle center and with this batch we finally make it to the Expo itself in 1962. Enjoy and be sure to click on the images for the high res glory.

Those pictures are gorgeous. It all seems so quaint now, but it was a miracle to those of us who were there all those years ago. I’m hoping maybe a future post will have pictures of the two biggest hits of the fair that I remember: the Belgian Waffle house and the Mongolian Steakhouse – very exotic stuff in those days.
I’ll be curious to see if he has any close-up photos of the inside of the Bubbleator. Last I was at MOHAI, they had a sign up, asking for photos of the interior of the Bubbleator, since none seemed to exist and they wanted to recreate it.
6th picture down… is that now the Skyride that I rode as a kid at the Puyallup Fair?
@trickycoolj: Yes. The Century 21/Seattle Center skyride was sold and moved to the Puyallup Fair, I believe in the late 70s or early 80s.
Outstanding. The fourth picture reminds me of the final scene in “It Happened at the World´s Fair”. Elvis, Joan O´Brien and the Seattle World´s Fair Band are parading between the fountain and the flag pavilion..
@Shannon- I seem to recall some nice images of the Bubbleator on Flickr..
