Judging by the cars, the picture was taken around 1970, so the teal pants are typical of the fashion faux pas of the era. Also, it’s the afternoon rush hour – three lanes heading east.

  2. LOL, “an otherwise stellar career”. I got a big smile.

You can barely see The Bulge in that shot. Here’s a clearer view of it: http://www.vintageseattle.org/2008/08/05/back-when-bulged-i-90-floating-bridge/.

Yikes! I remember the reversible lanes and the bulge! That bridge was terrifying!

So many things terrifying. The bulge (enough said). Driving around the bulge against oncoming traffic due to the reversible lanes. Also terrifying, but often forgotten – I grew up on Beacon Hill and when we’d return from a trip to Bellevue, my dad would have to make a left turn ACROSS E-BOUND TRAFFIC onto 17th Avenue S. Glad the car never stalled at the wrong moment.

Wait. I can’t see Bill Gates’ house from here. ;-)

Sorry. I was thinking it was 520.

  8. Hi Dumas. I loved your stories about the musketeers but I thought the Count of Monte Cristo was a more compelling drama. Many of us here have gotten excited and jumped the gun in the comments. I do it all the time, just to help others feel superior and give them a leg up on their day. I don’t think anyone minds. It’s because the content is so exciting.
